How would you describe your current role to a HR outsider?
Act as a HR advisor to consult, share insights, coach and challenge management team on critical HR topics. Continuous improvement plan on HR end to end cycle to support business expansion. Build and maintain a relationship as trusted strategic HR partner with key stakeholders.
What is a common misconception about the work you do?
HR is mainly to process payroll, act as a discipline teacher.
How did you get started in your HR career?
I joined a boutique HR Consultancy firm in 1999 and inspired by my external clients ie Tenaga, ASTRO, Deutsche Bank on their robust HR initiatives to attract/develop/retain talents, hence HR is the calling.
Describe the most impactful HR project you've personally worked on.
In Schneider Electric, I helped to integrate all HR Policies upon acquisition and managed to help the business in expansion, bring down the attrition rate, and bring up the employees engagement rate.
What is one HR/future of work trend or change you're not convinced will work for SEA startups?
HR Business Partner is at the infant stage in start up and it takes time for the young entrepreneurs to learn its importance.
What is one HR/future of work trend or change that you hope to see more of at SEA startups?
Check and balance of the usage of data and human touch.
