How would you describe your current role and the biggest challenges you face?
Making transactional experiences fun, exciting and educational.
What is a common misconception about the work you do?
"You just make screens right? It's not that hard."
How did you get started in your marketing career?
I started out in Sales so I spent most of my hours talking to customers daily. From those conversations, I realized many of the products I was selling were not as customer-centric as they should be. I figured I'd take my knowledge from Sales to Marketing so I could help change that.
Describe the most impactful marketing campaign/project you've personally worked on.
An app that 90 million people use at least twice daily. It has empowered so many unbanked individuals that, only a couple of years ago, had no access to fair loans and savings or investment opportunities. I'm still working on it to continue making it better :)
What is one marketing trend or change you're not convinced will work for SEA tech brands?
Anything can work if it's targeted to the right individual.
What is one marketing trend or change that you hope to see more of at SEA tech brands? And, why?
Digitally inclusive services. We need to remember that the marginalised, when put together, constitute a huge part of our population. We've made things so much easier for so many, let's not leave anyone behind - especially not the ones who need us most.
What is your favourite marketing resource that you would recommend to this community? And, why?
App store reviews. It's where you'll find some of the most honest feedback, and some surprisingly great ideas from people who genuinely want you to do better.
Lastly, where are you based, and where would you take friends visiting your city for the first time?
Manila, Philippines. Let's go scuba diving in Coron!
