How would you describe your current role to a HR outsider?

Focusing on developing strategy between business strategy and people development. Aligning people metrics and business direction towards company goals.

What is a common misconception about the work you do?

My role is a strategic role who needs the experience and knowledge in all aspect of HR. Others might think my role here only to serve administrative, but company margin is also one of my target to achieve through people strategy.

How did you get started in your HR career?

My journey began with headhunter role, meeting a lot of startup founders in technology industry helped me to open the knowledge and connection. Moving forward helping several startups as their HR Operations and also landed in Banking as HRBP to learn and study about HR in big corporate. Now I am helping insurtech to grow as their People Partner.

Describe the most impactful HR project you've personally worked on.

As a part of team member in developing and implementing agile working in one of my previous company. It was a success and gave huge impact for the company until now. The framework has given a lot of opportunity for people to be able to move around and find their best performance in the company.

What is one HR/future of work trend or change you're not convinced will work for SEA startups?

Role of HRBP in startups sometimes mislead as all rounder HR admin in company. While the truth is HRBP is one of the key role in startups in helping them to develop people, driving people into the same business direction and get insight on how company should do to their best people.

What is one HR/future of work trend or change that you hope to see more of at SEA startups?

More on the people development, tendencies here are still towards business. Balancing between people and business are also important.

What is your favourite HR resource that you would recommend to this community?

I see channel in youtube, HR University, that explains HR in more simplest way. This excite newbie in HR to learn about HR.
