Nurturing potential into performance
For Wati, employee development is something they’re committed to. The company recognises leadership as a crucial skill for long-term growth. As a growing company that moves so quickly, they know they have to get it right — enhancing managerial effectiveness by broadening the focus from technical skills to holistic development.
Wati partnered with NewCampus to help new managers be confident with their identity and impact as people leaders. The bespoke modules were catered to the needs of the company, a combination between Management Essentials and Stakeholder Essentials. The programme aims to strengthen managers' self-identity as people leaders, providing necessary tools and support.
Creating a positive energy through people development and coaching
We explored the GROW Coaching Model and Empathy Grid frameworks among others, to build continuous development and boost employee engagement within Wati. These tools provided structured coaching and improved understanding of individual motivations of team members.
The learners were empowered to nurture team potential by explaining task importance and encouraging delegation. This helps the team to reflect on collaboration and new perspectives.
“The materials let me know I am going to a right direction.”
“I feel positive energy here, no judging and giving an open space to everyone to share their ideas.”
Teams at Wati applies these frameworks differently, and their use is constantly evolving to their needs. They continually learn and find new ways in creating a supportive environment that prioritise both personal and professional growth for all employees.
Sharing (team dynamics) is caring
Through reflective debriefs that enabled introspection and productive dialogue, an appreciation for the challenges their teams face was brought up. This appreciation, in turn, nurtured Wati's commitment to regular and well-prepared coaching touch-points.
Both synchronous and asynchronous opportunities are seen as important for individual contributors and managers alike. Learners found that understanding how their work helps the company grow made them more motivated and productive.
As an added benefit, the programme brought together people from different parts of the company and locations. The impact of this alignment has helped them connect and build better relationships across departments.
"As a manager, I have learned that it is important to create an atmosphere of open communication. It allows me to learn new things from the team and also help me to resolve any open issues from the team to work on their priorities."
"When individuals understand how their assignments contribute to the overall company growth, their motivation and sense of purpose increase. This, in turn, leads to higher work efficiency and productivity."
